Removals firms price on volume, distance and time. Bedrooms are the industry's shorthand for volume, so the range grows with each bedroom - but remember the shorthand misses lofts, garages, sheds and gardens, which is why honest descriptions get accurate quotes.
Distance moves the price in steps rather than smoothly: a local move is usually done in a day by one crew, a medium-distance move adds fuel and hours, and a long-distance move can mean an overnight or a second crew at the far end.
A packing service typically adds a day before the move. It costs more but transfers breakage risk to the firm's insurance for the items they packed - often worth it for kitchens, glassware and anything you'd hate to rewrap badly at midnight.
